Module Overview
Introduction
This module goes beyond traditional teaching skills by introducing strategies that faculty can use to engage learners more actively in the teaching/learning process. By the end of this module, you should be able to create a supportive active learning environment, select and use appropriate teaching methodologies to promote effective student active learning, and assess the effectiveness of active learning methodology. By reflecting and documenting the results, you will have taken a major step in changing your teaching practices. To learn more about this module, select one of the options listed on your screen.>
Purpose and Objectives
This module introduces strategies that faculty can use to engage learners more actively in the teaching/learning process. Alternative faculty roles, assessment methods, and resources appropriate for these strategies will also be introduced. By the end of this module, you should be able to:
- create a supportive active learning environment,
- select and use appropriate teaching methodologies to promote effective student active learning,
- assess effectiveness and student receptivity of active learning methodology,
- reflect and document teaching and assessment results, and
- change teaching practices consistent with the assessment results and module content.
